Portobello mushrooms are mature, white button mushrooms that are a great source of vitamins B3 and B2 which help with energy, stress, metabolism, blood pressure and cognitive abilities. Since they are considered rich in umami, the full-bodied flavor sensation that’s sometimes described as “meaty”, portobellos are a great meat alternative. In several studies, participants found them as satisfying as red meat and easier to digest.
