Wild rice is not actually rice but is a species of grass that produces a similar seed to that found in rice. It is referred to as “rice” because it looks and cooks like other types of rice. But, it has a stronger taste with a nutty, earthy flavor and chewy texture. Wild rice is great option for vegetarians and vegans because it contains twice as much protein as brown or white rice and is a complete protein with all the essential amino acids.
