Edamame, also known as vegetable soybeans, are whole, green, immature soybeans which are a complete protein source providing you with all nine essential amino acids. Adding ½ cup of frozen edamame to a dish provides 4 grams of fiber, 8 grams of protein and 4 grams of “heart healthy” fats along with the color and texture necessary to satisfy all your “hungers.” Remember, the shell is not edible so be sure to either buy shelled or remove the shell before using.
