Protein is an amazing macronutrient that provides your body with multiple benefits. It helps keep you full because it is digested very slowly by the body and does not cause a rise and crash in your blood sugar levels that often results in cravings a few hours later. Including a source of protein with every meal and snack ensures that you get enough in your diet everyday and helps keep you full and in control to make healthy choices. In general, our bodies only need between 46-56 grams per day to function

Vegetarians who eat a wide variety of plant-based foods can easily meet their protein requirements. Beans, lower fat cheeses/dairy, nuts, and eggs are all excellent protein sources. In addition, foods such as quinoa, edamame, broccoli, nuts and tofu, also provide adequate amounts of protein.
